This means that a common way of producing ABS plastic is from other ABS plastic (i.e. making ABS from ABS).

ABS and products made with ABS have the recycling number 7.

As virgin acrylonitrile butadiene styrene sometimes proves to be expensive as a raw material used in manufacturing plastic products, recycling of this ABS material has come into practice. It is more economical and attractive.

ABS is a great plastic product to use since it is one of the most affordable plastics resistant to strong impacts and corrosive chemicals. It is also relatively harmless since the plastic material doesn’t have any known toxic carcinogens in it.

When compared to other plastics ABS offers myriad benefits. These advantages include increased strength to weight ratios, enhanced durability, excellent insulation qualities, and low overall costs. ABS, is stronger and more durable than PVC.

ABS has a low melting point, which enables its easy use in the injection molding process and 3D printing. It also has high tensile strength and is very resistant to physical impacts and chemical corrosion, which allow the finished plastic to withstand heavy use and adverse environmental conditions.

ABS is an excellent material for waterproof printing. Parts can crack and deform when in the cold, but its waterproof properties have been reported to otherwise last for extended amounts of time.
